The Greater Bay Area (GBA) is a collaborative initiative and a significant opportunity to shape the future of Hong Kong and the ten other cities within the Pearl River Delta. With a combined population of over 69 million and a GDP of USD 1.53 trillion as of the end of 2017, the region is well-positioned to play a leading role in advanced manufacturing, technology, and innovation, transportation, trade, and finance.

The Greater Bay Area (GBA) development blueprint, which relates to 70 million people in 9 cities and 2 special administrative regions in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, will bring tremendous opportunities to the Hong Kong construction sector.

To start with, the Mainland has been expanding the scope of mutual recognition of professional qualifications by allowing Hong Kong construction professionals and consultant firms to directly practice in the GBA by obtaining equivalent qualifications in the Mainland through a registration system. Further measures are also being implemented in Qianhai and Hengqin.

Miranda mentioned "MES Hong Kong is well-positioned to support and work with the GBA area, to create more value. We are also well-positioned to connect Hong Kong with China in manufacturing, technology, and innovation areas. A lot of contractors in Hong Kong and even in Hong Kong Government: the policymaker, have encouraged a lot of MiC, perfection area and the project in Hong Kong, and MiC, DfMA involved a lot of technology, innovation to support project management."

"Our government would like to push, like what I mentioned, MiC by easing the DfMa design for manufacturing assembly. Everything will be monitor and everything on the platform will be based on the time, location, and schedule. This is also the technology and innovation that can help to link Hong Kong and the GBA area, and that we can work more closely and more efficiently through our digital project team. Project management is definitely one of our edge: to provide or to connect between the GBA, by using innovation, DfMA platform and BIM technology to link the 9+3 regions will certainly create great benefit in all these areas especially now that we are in the Covid pandemic era."
